Lake Windermere & Boating Information
-
The Mission of the CVBA is to become the primary provider of boating related information to the boating community, local community as well as municipal, provincial and federal authorities through developing a relationship with government and becoming a trusted advisor on lake related governance.
The vision of the Columbia Valley Boating Association is to foster a thriving and sustainable boating community, while advocating for the environmental, economic and social well-being of the lake community and its surrounding areas. We are committed to promoting responsible boating practices, preserving the health and natural beauty of the lake, supporting local businesses, and actively engaging with stakeholders to ensure the long-term ability for boats to use the lake. Through collaboration, education, and advocacy, we strive to create a vibrant and inclusive community that values the sustainable use and enjoyment of the lake for generations to come.

The Board of Directors of the Lake Windermere Ambassadors Society has been designated the Lake Management Committee by two local governments.
The Committee provides commentary regarding proposed zoning alterations or applications for changes to the foreshore environment surrounding Lake Windermere.
These comments are advisory and non-regulatory in nature, but are significant in that they come from the only community-based, non-governmental review panel for these types of development referrals.
-
Buoys on Windermere Lake are regulated by Bylaw 900 and enforced on a complaint basis by RDEK. When the Lake Windermere Management Plan was adopted in 2013 all existing buoys were grandfathered as non-conforming. Any additional buoys after the adoption of the Lake Windermere Management Plan are not allowed.
